How does a battery work?

Your car battery is an important part of your ignition system. The battery generates and stores a charge measured in voltage that is necessary to initiate the spark process. When starting the vehicle, the battery loses volts. The used voltage is replaced through the action of the alternator which directs current to the battery until the battery reaches a certain value in voltage.

The alternator is not the only way a battery is charged. Long ago inventors learned that positioning positively charged and negatively charged lead poles close to one another in a sulfuric acid bath produces a storable charge measured in volts. A healthy car battery charges itself while your car is at rest through this method. However, the positive and negative properties of your battery will eventually fade away.

Bring your car to Curry Honda Atlanta in Chamblee for a test and evaluation of your car’s battery.
